Tea house TWG Tea has opened its largest flagship to date in Terminal 3 of Singapore's Changi Airport. The roughly 250 m² space houses the brand's first-ever tea museum, unveiled in early October.
On display are more than 170 antique tea wares and decorative objects — Yixing clay teapots, Chinese and Western ceramics — alongside over 50 Russian samovars spanning the 17th to the 20th century. A hand-painted ceiling maps the world's major tea-growing regions, and a feature wall holds more than 1,200 tea tins.
For tea drinkers in Moldova the samovars strike a familiar note: the custom of long, unhurried sessions of strong black tea poured from a samovar has travelled all the way from Russia to Southeast Asia, where it now sits behind glass in one of the world's busiest airports.
