Purebread Brands, which runs bakery-cafes in British Columbia, announced on 14 October that it has signed a letter of intent to acquire the cafe business of Vancouver's Caffè Artigiano. The deal is valued at roughly C$7.7 million and would be paid entirely in stock, leaving Artigiano's owners with a 49% stake in the enlarged Purebread.
Caffè Artigiano opened its first cafe on Hornby Street in 1999 and roasts its coffee in Burnaby. Purebread began life as a stall at the Whistler Farmers' Market and now operates seven locations. Combined, the two brands would count 27 bakeries and cafes, franchises included. Purebread's chief executive described Artigiano as a natural fit for the group.
The agreement is still preliminary: definitive contracts have yet to be signed, and closing depends on regulatory and stakeholder approvals. The companies have not said whether Salt Spring Coffee, which Artigiano bought in 2025, is part of the transaction.
