Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group (MZBG), the Italian coffee group founded in 1973 in Bologna and best known for its Segafredo Zanetti brand, is nearing a possible sale, according to trade press reports. The group runs more than 40 coffee and tea brands — including Boncafé and Chock full o'Nuts — across over 110 markets through 21 of its own roasting plants, and is reportedly valued at up to €1.2 billion.

Around six private equity funds are said to have expressed interest in the deal, according to Italian trade press. QuattroR, which has held roughly 70% of the company for more than two years, is reportedly weighing a full exit, and founder Massimo Zanetti has confirmed he is willing to sell his remaining stake too, if the terms on offer are acceptable.

Rumors of a potential sale have circulated since April 2026, and a deal of this size would mark one of the biggest consolidation moves in the global coffee industry in recent years.
