Italian coffee company Lavazza officially launched its Tablì system in the United States on August 3, 2026 — an espresso machine that skips plastic or aluminum capsules in favor of tablets compressed entirely from ground coffee. The system is the result of five years of development and more than 15 patents, building on technology acquired in 2020 through the purchase of Italian startup Caffemotive.
The machine, priced at $129.99 and available in three colors, uses a bean-shaped slider mechanism, while the tablets themselves — offered in espresso, double espresso, decaf, super crema and lungo varieties — feature a concave shape designed for even extraction. According to the company, pre-order demand exceeded expectations, with some drops selling out in under an hour.
The launch was backed by a wide-reaching marketing campaign built around a film featuring the brand's robot character Luigi, running on streaming platforms including Prime Video, Netflix and Hulu. The product is expected to reach Amazon later in August.
