London matcha brand JENKI opened a new matcha bar in Soho on Berwick Street on 3 September. The space centres on a whisking station where every matcha is prepared to order, with seating alcoves and a retail corner stocking first-harvest matcha sourced directly from Japan, preparation tools and the brand's new lifestyle collection. Launch day came with a giveaway of free matcha between 10am and 6pm.
The interior, by KAI Interiors, borrows from Japanese tea fields: natural clay, curved-grain timber, fabric light sails for a dappled glow and a bespoke embroidered wall by Sow Embroidery Studio. Co-founder Claudia Boyer said the team wanted the bar to feel quite unlike the bustle outside its doors.
The opening is part of a rapid rollout: JENKI aims to reach 11 London locations by the end of 2026, with further bars lined up for Liverpool Street, St Paul's, Fitzrovia and Marylebone. It is one more sign that matcha has moved beyond the café menu into dedicated formats with their own specialist chains.
