India's First Duty-Free Coffee Shipment Arrives in the UK

The India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which took effect on July 15, 2026 and removes tariffs on roughly 99% of India's export tariff lines, has produced its first duty-free coffee shipment to the British market. Odisha-based Kruti Coffee dispatched the consignment from Kolkata, marking the brand's international debut.

The shipment coincides with the August 1, 2026 opening of the company's first international café, in London. P. Kumaran, India's High Commissioner to the UK, said CETA's 99% tariff-line coverage means "the benefits will be significant" for Indian exporters.

UK estimates suggest CETA could boost bilateral trade by £25.5 billion a year in the long run — a sign of growing openness in Western markets for Indian agri-food exports, including coffee.
