The Global Coffee Awards announced the winners of its US & Canada edition on 9 September. The overall champion title went to Sweet Bloom Coffee, a roastery based in Denver, Colorado, which also claimed gold in the plant-based milk flat white category. Judging took place on 10-11 August in Houston, Texas.
Category wins were spread across several states: Cafe Kreyol (Virginia) for filter coffee, Lucky's Coffee (California) for espresso, Soul Cafe Coffee Roasters (New York) for dairy flat white, and Pulp Coffee (Texas) for ready-to-drink. A separate packaging award went to The Boy and The Bear of Los Angeles. Organisers stress that every entry is assessed blind, with no branding or backstory — only what is in the cup counts.
The European edition follows in October in Bordeaux, and regional winners will meet at the World Championship on 18-19 March 2027, hosted in Mexico. At Premium Tea our focus is tea, but the way specialty coffee has taught consumers to judge a drink by taste, origin and processing is a lesson tea lovers can borrow too.
