Canadian company Alimentation Couche-Tard, best known for its Circle K convenience store network, announced on July 31, 2026 the acquisition of Polish convenience chain Żabka Group for roughly 32.6 billion zloty ($8.7 billion) — the largest deal in the company's history.

Couche-Tard currently operates nearly 5,000 Circle K stores across Europe, while Żabka runs around 13,000 stores in Poland and Romania. Combining the two networks will make the Canadian company one of Europe's largest self-serve coffee operators, extending its footprint from Scandinavia, the Baltics, Benelux, Germany, and Ireland into Poland and Romania. The deal is expected to close in December 2026.
