British brand Birchall Tea marked UK National Tea Week (August 10-16) with a rare industry milestone: its Great Rift Tea blend, made from black tea leaves grown in Kenya's Great Rift Valley region, has won a Great Taste Award for the 16th consecutive year. The streak began in 2010 and has continued unbroken through 2026, bringing the brand's total Great Taste Award count to 101.
Great Taste judges assess entries blind, based purely on flavor, texture, and overall quality, with no knowledge of which brand sits behind each sample — which makes a 16-year unbroken streak unusually hard to hold onto, especially in a tea market constantly reshaped by newer trends like matcha or bubble tea.
